Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here πŸ™‚

I'm sorry about Cat but I'm glad you're able to visit her and have other furbabies. I currently have 2 cats in my household, Mittens is mine and Mini is my brother's, they don't like each other much but they'll put up with one another for the sake of cuddles.
I'm hoping to get to that point someday, I'm currently waiting for my disability support person to help me find long term therapy options and potentially some group DBT.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here πŸ™‚

Hi, new to this whole form thing. I'm Stacey, I've always been an anxious person well from as long as I can remember, I don't exactly know why I am, I can't remember anything overly traumatic happening in my childhood. Anyway, I was officially diagnosed with gad and depression at age 14. I had a review in 2020 as my symptoms got kinda bad and  again earlier this year. I've officially been diagnosed with an adjustment disorder with anxiety, depression and borderline personality traits along with suspected autism and ADHD. Thing is I know about stuff and I'm extremely self aware, sometimes a little too aware so I know most times what I need to do to feel better I just have no idea how to put it into action. My symptoms often present more physically and it makes everyday life so hard, I struggle with motivation and following through on things and I just feel like I'm stuck in quick sand. Anyway this is a bit of my story and about me..

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here πŸ™‚

@Alligator_Snap I have done group DBT. To begin with I was very unsure and really did not want to do it (I don't like groups) but I eventually found a little confidence and it helped. There was a lot that I already knew/did - and the follow up sessions with my pdoc were the most important for me - but it did help to practice the skills weekly. I hope you find the supports you need quickly.

A tip for the forum - if you want to reply/tag someone type in @and then start typing their name. This will then send them a notification.

Hi @Staceace111 Welcome to the forum 😁 You sure have a lot going on. That feeling of being stuck in quicksand is so hard to get out of. Like anything, the steps forward are often slow and small but we have to somehow find that motivation first to begin. It is not easy. I am a lists person. I find some satisfaction from being able to cross things off as I do them and see what I have achieved ...even if it is just one or two things at a time. There are of course days when I do nothing - but that is okay too - it is balancing out what we need and what we can do ...and being okay at times with both.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here πŸ™‚

Thankyou for the response, I'm actually surprised I've actually got a reply. I'm part of a few mental health groups on Facebook and have posted with no replys given. Im a bit of a list person to but I'm just so dang exhausted and overwhelmed all the time that I usually can only focus on one thing eg. My mental health which means I lack in parenting and housework- etc if that makes sense. I need balance but just can't seem to achieve it without mentally and physically exhausting myself. Unfortunately I'm a mum of two, one of which has a disability and my husband who was in a car accident early Feb due to neurological issues who was actually a big support around every day life stuff that now I've got more responsibilities than I did prior.. our future is all up in the air ATM so there also is no stability or clear direction for our family.. just playing the waiting game now

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here πŸ™‚

What's it like in a ward? I've been thinking about self admittance within the public system but have a few worries and questions.

1. Can they keep you in longer  against you're wishes even if you self admitted?

2. Do they actually help you, what things do you do etc?

3. If you have kids etc would they document or speak to child services (cps)?

4. What other things should I know before going in there? Can I request to not be put near or in a room with people etc? I'm sensitive to other people's behaviours and am quite scared of everything (anxiety)

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here πŸ™‚

That all seems so very hard @Staceace111 and would be extremely overwhelming. It is hard enough dealing with our own mental health issues but to have added responsibilities now after your husband's accident - I really feel for you πŸ˜” There is something one of our wonderful community guides here used to do to help with the housework - she used to have baskets for all her kids and throw things in each one to sort out at a later time. It doesn't completely get all the housework done but it does free up some space ..and if you are anything like me - a tidy(er) house lends to a clearer mind. I find when everything around me is chaotic then my mind is also less able to cope. As for lists - you only need a few things on it to start with (even shower, clean your teeth, eat can be those things) and once you can begin ticking things off - even if they are the simpler day to day things, then you can begin adding other things.

A forum tip - if you want to reply to someone and let them know you have, type @and then their name and they will see the notification. It is sometimes difficult to get the hang of the forum but you are doing really well so far. Lovely to have you here 😁

Hey @Staceace111! So nice to meet you! Others will have heaps to tell you, but you can also look at this thread here for some info others have shared!

Also, a special forums tip: if you click "@" and then type another users name, they get a notification that you've responded to them. Happy forum-ing!
