Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here πŸ™‚

Hi @notManny,

Welcome to the Forums! My name is FloatingFeather and I am one of the peer support workers at SANE. You have found a great place for support with many kind members with a wide variety of lived experiences.

It sounds like you have a really interesting background! I feel very boring compared to you lol.

Feel free to explore the Forums - there are many different topics and threads on here. One of the most active spaces is the social spaces thread. I have attached a link to it here social spaces.

If you want to directly chat with someone on the Forums use the @ symbol and then start typing their name directly after it. A dropdown box should appear, and you then select their name. This ensures that they are notified of any posts you mention them in.

If you have any questions just ask!

Warm wishes,

FloatingFeather

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here πŸ™‚

Hello, I’m new here. There’s a lot that went about in my life that led me here, and I like to believe that I’m on a path to self-discovery.

I’m a mom of young boys with a very supportive husband. I feel free opening up to him and he knows everything about me, however, I feel like having a conversation with someone with a lived experience to fully process the complex emotions that come with these shared experiences.

I have yet to explore other topics here in the forum, but would like to say thanks to the people behind this forum and those people that share their experiences. Thank you!

Tala

Hi @tala

Welcome to the Forums! My name is FloatingFeather and I am one of the peer support workers at SANE. It is nice to have you with us and I really like how you say you are on a path of self-discovery. I feel that's one of the reasons I am here too πŸ™‚.

It sounds like you have been through quite a bit in your life and that life has been quite overwhelming at times. I think with working full-time, having young children whilst trying to work through your traumas it is very understandable that you would feel this way. It is good to read that you have a very supportive husband - I think for a lot of people just having one really supportive person is such an important ingredient of life.

It's really good that you have found us and I agree, speaking to people with lived experience in something similar can be extremely helpful, particularly (as you said) that are on the other side. I think the power of sharing lived experience is underestimated - there can be a lot of strength and knowledge in sharing lived experience.

You can search for key topics in the forums using the magnifying key symbol. As an example of what you may find on the Forums I attached a link to a SANE article on ADHD to help you get started ADHD.

A tip - if you want to directly chat with someone on the Forums use the @ symbol and then start typing their name directly after it. A dropdown box should appear, and you then select their name. This ensures that they are notified of any posts you mention them in. Another tip is that the most recent posts are the latest page numbers.

Thanks @FloatingFeather, I appreciate it!

Hi @tala

Welcome to the forums! It sounds like you've had quite the journey over the year. I kinda hate the word 'journey' but can't think of something to adequately replace it.

Anyways, I just wanted to welcome you. There's nothing quite like being able to share with others who've gone through what you have (or similar and can therefore understand). My husband is wonderful but doesn't quite get 'mental illness' as he's never really experienced himself. He did have one episode of quite severe anxiety that lasted a few weeks. He said it really gave him a 'taste' of what people go through.
I hope you make great connections here. It's such a wonderful community full of members who are empathetic, kind-hearted, intelligent, charismatic, and wise.

Looking forward to seeing you around.
