Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here πŸ™‚

Hello @BobP

Thankyou for sharing your article.

I absolutely agree! It had not crossed my mind in terms of being a potential solution to provide employment opportunities to those with disabilities.

I am possibly over generalising, I think many people who share mental health diagnosis are likely very creative & are drawn to the arts.

It is hugely therapeutic too.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here πŸ™‚

HI

Not really sure what to write here but .. here goes.

I'm 47, and I got directed toward this service through my Peer Support counsellor.

I have had a long history of mental health, and am currently going through a combination of trauma as a result of a long-term relationship breakdown and the subsequent divorce.

As a result of this, and of previous experiences, I am sure that I will never find anyone to spend the rest of my life with.  This is difficult for me because I don't operate well on my own.

I have a combination of ADHD, depression and anxiety, and also have the additional gifts of RSD and social anxiety.

Despite all this, I have a really good job as a VET teacher, and despite some difficulties recently, I'm just about to complete my first year as a full teacher.  And yet I always have this feeling that I'm never good enough.

I'm here to - more than anything - learn how others cope, hopefully validate what I'm feeling when times get tough, and maybe even learn some coping mechanisms so that I can go out into the world with a little more confidence.  I also hope that I can help others along the way.

Thanks for reading.

Hi everyone. 47 year old here. ADHD, anxiety and depression.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here πŸ™‚

Hi everyone. I've just joined the forum looking for some support and hoping to give back.

I've struggled with anxiety, depression and C-PTSD for the large majority of my life and I'm trying to overcome now that I'm in my thirties and wanting my own children.

I recently left a job I loved because I was being bullied and didn't see any other escape. I'm an allied health professional, so I was stoked to get a job privately with my mentor. My mentor turned out to be the wrong person to work for and I've had to leave that job due to the sheer anxiety of having to get out of bed today.

I haven't managed to stop having panic attacks all day. My husband doesn't know how to support me and I feel like a constant source of disappointment to him. I need help but I'm too scared of what's going to happen. It's been my dream to work in allied health since I was a kid and now I'm not even sure I can cope with the load. I have no other support - my family and friends are all very far away. Maybe I can make some friends here who can help support me.

Hey hey, I'm notManny and I'm finally to the point where I'm ready to start actioning some plans I've made to get support. I'm a Puerto Rican that was raised in Florida, moved to Victoria in 2012 and on to Tassie last year. Looking forward to seeing what the SANE forums have to offer along with other avenues of support I'm looking into.

Currently low on spoons but I'll be floating around πŸ™‚

Hi there @notManny

Welcome the forums. It sounds like you've gone from living in one of the warmest parts of the US to two of the chilliest places in Australia! It sounds like some good planning to start on the SANE forums to implement some of your support plans. I hope you make some wonderful connections here!

No need to reply today with you being low on spoons at the moment!

Hopefully will see you around

Hanami
