Can you see how these children are real battlers and fighters? @Former-Member
And so are their parents! It is so rewarding to see children’s resilience even in the toughest times. I can be a real comfort.
I remember speaking to a parent who was telling me about when her child broke her arm. The child could see the mother distraught, and it was the child who comforted the mother and family…not the other way around!
Just makes you want to hug them more and more!

Aww. That is sad that the child felt like she needed to comfort the mother. @tyme

I used to get regular visits from a religious person, and her visits were quite rejuvenating and sustaining. It makes us realise we're social animals and need human interaction, not only for our mental health but for so many other areas of our lives. I sing with a choir, and play with a symphony orchestra, and I find it's not just the music that's healing, it's the contact and making friendships there, having coffees with people, I went with one of our trombonist to a ceramics exhibition and the yafternoon tea a couple of weeks ago, had dinner with some other friends from choir for my birthday. If you feel comfortable with churches or temples, they can also be a way to come out the hibernation we go into.

Hey @Former-Member , I'm not sure I'd say it was sad that the child had to comfort the mother - I see it more that the child's resilience can teach us a lot. We can learn from them. Also, it seems that children have a lot of intuition - they may not have the words to describe it, but they somehow know how adults are feeling. You should be admired for your strength in raising your daughter to be as strong as she is now!
Hi @Abner , yes, we are social beings. As much as we try to disconnect from society (especially when we are down), our inner being needs people. I'm glad you find solace with attending churches/temples etc. It definitely can be of great peace when you have a connection with a higher being.
Great to see you pass by here tonight @Abner . Tea? Masala tea? Chai? Camomile? What's your pick?

Thanks @tyme I know I’ve tried my best to be there for her. At times it never seems enough.
Do you have children?
I don’t think I would have coped with another child. I get too involved. 🥹😀

TW - childbirth
@Former-Member
I have two boys 27 &26 and one girl 21
I had caesareans with all three but they messed up the epidural on the second child and I did feel it. I must admit that when I was pregnant with my daughter that I worried about it happening again.

Hi @Former-Member ,
To answer your question, no, I do not have children. But yes, I have children around me pretty much ALL day!
My entire life has always revolved around children, education, children with additional needs, vulnerable children etc.
So when I get home in the evenings, I'm glad to be alone LOL. That's why I come to have a cuppa with the crew here!

Ugh! Sorry to hear that you felt it. Did you find boys easier to raise than your girl? @Oaktree

I can only imagine living alone. Sounds good @tyme 😀👍 I used to work in child protection. It was very sad to see what goes on. I only worked there for 2 years. It was too much for me. I wish I could have done more for them.

I do wonder how many of them ended up in jail. I was attacked there. No consequences. I was reprimanded for crying. I had to lock myself in a room. @tyme Was told to not show any emotion.
