Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here πŸ™‚

Hello,

I’m a multiply disabled person who has been having some trouble juggling everything recently and who feels like my mental health has been getting lost behind the demands of my physical health.

I’m usually a university student, though I took this semester off following the death of a family member, and I hope to return to my studies next year. I am finding life very difficult at the moment though, and it’s hard to imagine being capable of adding study back on top of everything.

I’m looking for some ways to find a bit more balance in my life, to regain some confidence and develop better coping skills.

When I'm not dragging myself around between medical appointments I like musicals, superhero comics, ice hockey and instagramming my brunch.

Hi @capybara87 (cool name by the way!)

Welcome, it's great to have you here.

I'm sorry to hear about the death of a family member. It's good you were able to take some time off for this. It sounds like you have a lot going on so understandable you're mental health is getting lost. Do you have a psychologist or counsellor you see who can help support you to get it back on track?

Warmest wishes

Hanami

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here πŸ™‚

Hi @hanami

I do have a psychologist, but we're a bit new to each other - my old psychologist fell ill suddenly earlier in the year and had to stop seeing patients and it was a bit difficult finding someone new. While my new psych is very good it sometimes feel like I get caught up in updating her on historical stuff (that my old psych used to know) and we sometimes run out of time for the here-and-now. But I think maybe we are just figuring out our rhythm.

All the best,

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here πŸ™‚

That's tough @capybara87 . It's hard starting over. I know it puts a lot of people off starting over with a new psyche. I hope things improve for you soon.

Functional dysfunctional here!

I was looking for a live chat on this site, to talk with people in real time. All I can find is a post/reply format. Have I pressed the wrong buttons, or is this essentially just a sub-reddit?

Hi, I am Gary3 and a new member

3 months ago I had to put my wife into full time care with Alzheimers as I had cared for her at home for 7 years and just could not continue.

I miss her terribly now and am wondering if I was premature in doing this as I think now I have had some "me" time I could care for her again.

Just wondering what your thoughts are as to whether I should discuss getting her out with Nursing home staff to see what they think?

Hi there, keen to linkup with my tribe & share the journey...lonely treck thus farπŸ™. A mixed bag...A nature lover, passionate about travel & culture, curious with a quirky sense of humourπŸŒ»πŸ€—

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here πŸ™‚

@Hotaru

I don't know if I'm your tribe, but maybe! If you feel like a bit of light reading, then I have been posting in a discussion I started --> Day Dreamer; Night Wanderer  which is basically me just telling my story, and answering any questions with a massive diatribe!

Welcome, I've only been here 3 days, and already I am feeling supported and less lonely and have something to do that isn't intensively concentrating activity wise.

Do you walk at all? There's a walking thread here somewhere...
