Re: Share a cuppa?

You know I never considered that people can make their own potato cakes? @ArraDreaming  Then one day, I heard that 'in the olden days, we always made our own for our fish and chip shop'.... I'm thinking, is that even possible??

Can't you tell I don't cook? @ArraDreaming @Oaktree ?

Brings back memories.... so many memories.

Re: Share a cuppa?

Ooh @Oaktree are you in NSW or maybe QLD? Only share if you want to of course. Calling em potato scallops is possibly a NSW thing, my dad always called em that! I'm from NSW but in VIC now, and you should see the death glares I get if I call it a parmi instead of a parma 😂

Ohhh that brought back memories @ArraDreaming my mum used to make that! She called it potato bake though. So good!

I'm legit off to the shops tomorrow was gonna get some kanga bangas and make bangas and mash, but now I'm thinking maybe bangas and potato bake, yummmm

Re: Share a cuppa?

@Oaktree
I used one of those big foil trays cause we had some left over from something and filling that got us probably 3 or 4 large adult servings for the freezer, could make way more but I didn’t fill it to the top.

Re: Share a cuppa?

What? You can make your own? @tyme how come I didn’t think of that

@Jynx kanga bangas 🤣 what? What are those?

Re: Share a cuppa?

The scallop potato’s my in-laws make absolutely slaps i always eat it on the drive home @Jynx
they make it because of me when they know I’m coming lol

Re: Share a cuppa?

@Jynx

I live in WA and we call it a Parmi here. One of my firm favourites. 9 times out of ten I order the parmi at a pub. Potato scallops are just thinly cut potato dipped in batter and fried. Of course you can make your own. I also love potato bake but I call that cheesy potato and I only make it at Christmas time.

Re: Share a cuppa?

@Oaktree oh for sure it's the best pub food option! It's my go to fav as well 🤤😍

Yeah that's what I would think of as potato scallops! But down in vic they're potato cakes haha.

@ArraDreaming oh mate I'm almost drooling haha sounds like a treat! Kanga bangas aka kangaroo sausages! I need a bit more red meat in my diet but I am not really a fan of beef or lamb - only when they're prepared in particular ways, usually a stew or in spag bol haha. So I branched out recently and tried some of the kangaroo and wallaby meats at Coles and they're really nice! So I'm making it a regular thing hehe.

Re: Share a cuppa?

sounds cool @Jynx interesting find

Re: Share a cuppa?

Plus it's just fun to say 'kanga banga' hehe.

I'm off for now gang, nighty night!
