Re: Share a cuppa?

I work at a plant nursery so if I’m out in the yard then I get wet but if I am serving customers I don’t, it’s always quiet on days like today so I can be under cover we have some closed areas @Former-Member

Re: Share a cuppa?

@ArraDreaming @Wow! I have done that before as well. This was my dream job. But then we moved, and my circumstances changed, and so I did something else. I would love to get back into nursery work again one-day. It is such a nice job to have. Except for the rain of course LOL! What is your favourite plant? Or your favourite style of garden?

Re: Share a cuppa?

Wow really! I love it I haven’t been there that long about a year maybe but it’s a good job. Well I could talk all about plants. I am a landscaper by trade but gave up landscaping for casual nursery hand work. When I was a landscaper I liked to focus on sensory gardens @Former-Member

Re: Share a cuppa?

Yeah sensory garden are so cool. I can’t believe that they are not more popular. Unfortunately, we live in an aesthetically driven world, but who doesn’t love things that feel, sound taste and smell good too?? I love it when they incorporate recycled materials as well. Now that is a dream garden 🪴

with popular interest in sustainability and sensory interaction hopefully they take off!

Re: Share a cuppa?

I really wanted to get my sensory garden and veggie garden visions into schools, but I found them challenging to work with. I was a sole trader to begin with then a small business with 1 employee for a little while. I really liked landscaping I found it really enjoyable shame had to give it up @Former-Member

My sensory garden idea came about because I have a little sister with quite severe ASD (and multiple siblings with other disabilities or on the spectrum) that was the inspiration around it

Hi @Former-Member welcome to Sane. I hope you enjoy the correspondences and connection it provides. I have been on a few months now and have found it really useful. The people are very kind and generous and the peer support workers are great. Sending you some virtual welcome flowers 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌻🌹🌹🌻🌻🌻.

Re: Share a cuppa?

Maybe you could tap into preschools? They are often looking for exactly that kind of garden, and also teaching the children about sustainability and the environment. Plus, that is one space where sensory things are never out of date. I have worked in preschools, since leaving the nursery LOL. I created a sustainable program for my preschool, and some of the other local preschools took it on too. Maybe you could ask at your kids school?

Re: Share a cuppa?

@Former-Member I love flowers 💐 thank you ☺️

I love jonquills the best because of their smell but I also love wisteria flowers, because the masses of purple lilac remind me of a magic scene
