I did a good deed today which has left me feeling great 😀
I go into coin dips on Tik Tok and Facebook, which can give you a chance at winning a high value coins for a small amount of money to purchase a number.
One of the users on Tik Tok did a coin dip and the money raised was being donated to the RSL in his state. I won the full Wiggles Coin set in a folder and also a set of Commonwealth Games coins in a folder. When I opened my package, there was something that I was not expecting. It was a flower made out of wood, with a 2022 $2 Honey Bee coin in the centre of the flower. I commented on how beautiful the flower was, while he was live, and he decided to send it too me.
He actually made it himself. Receiving that gift made my week, and I couldn't stop smiling. I couldn't wrap my head around, that a person whom I didn't know that well, has sent me something out of the kindness of his heart. Every time I look at it, I am amazed at his skill to make it, and it brings back that nice feeling I got upon receiving it.
Last week I was given a bonus number in a dip for supporting one of the causes on Facebook, and my number came up. I won a Canadian Coin and Medallion Set that came with a D-Day historical CD included. I am not interested in collecting war coins, or coins from other countries (unless they are stunning, LOL). So I didn't really want the set. I knew the person that gave me the flower, did collect war coins, so I offered it to him today to see if he was interested. He was and wanted to purchase the coin from me, but I said that I wanted to give it to him, as a thank you for the beautiful flower and how happy it made me feel, at a time when I really didn't have much to feel happy about.
He too has gone through some bad times, but he still donates his time to help out the RSL where he can. In my book, he is the type of person, who deserves to be made to feel special.
He has accepted my gift to him, and now it is him that is feeling great. I am so happy that I could make him feel exactly how I felt upon receiving his gift.
This was his gift.

Hi @Mustang67 @What a beautiful story. It gives me a warm glow just to read this : ) and illuminates the butterfly effect perfectly. Everything we do and say impacts others and the positive is what makes the world go round! I’m smiling as I write this because what you and your collecting acquaintance shared is magic! It’s the stuff that lights us up : ) gives us hope and surprises up when we least expect it. Kindness can make such a difference to so many peoples’ lives… Like imagine your acquaintance has kids and what you’ve done brings a bounce to their step too. It just spreads happy-joy to see and feel humanity in motion. And it brings me joy to read your story. I’ve just spent hours upon hours trying to get help for my brother…and now I’m on hold AGAIN with Mental Health Hotline for 49 mins now as a final step for this eve and checking in here helps me cope with the stress… 49 mins is not a hot line lol. Sheesh. So then I read your message and it’s transported my whole night into something less stressful. There is something about connection that does that and it’s truly helpful to change mindset when things don’t feel comfortable. It just totally shifted my headspace. So there you go, feel doubly happy - you’ve cheered me too : )
Who knew coins could bring so much joy!
I don’t have a tic tok account but you are making me want to get one and join the group sharing cool coins. I accidentally purchased the King Charles 2024 set from RAM and don’t want it. I meant to buy the two first coins from Queen Elizabeth and King Charles (yes, they have that set) but this set arrived. Obviously, I checked the wrong box. But now I guess I have something to trade?
Thank you for sharing the coin info you posted today. I don’t have the authorities books on coins yet and just follow my interests and keep an eye on second hands stores and Gumtree and of course, my change. I once found a $100 note with a serial number that was almost Edith Cowan’s birthday 0802(6)1861. Except for that darn 6, that note would have been a bonza - though it was the American date pattern Month/Date/Year rather than Date/Month/Year. But the odds I would actually find even the year of her birth blew my mind. And now I remember random facts like Edith Cowan’s birthday. And have been tempted to explore the other people depicted on notes like David Unaipon on $50 not and his story is breathtaking too. I love looking for patterns, dates, radars, runs in serial numbers now. As you can see yep, totally hooked!
Still on hold to mental health hotline and it’s been an hour…
I’m going to share a meme I saw today as a good night thought to all who’ve taken the time to ready my meanderings… Enjoy a good nights rest : ) and may you have many blessings to ponder upon tmrw 💐

Hi @Harmonium is your brother going to be ok. Yes, being on hold for 49 minutes while your brother needs help, would feel like an eternity. And really it is not acceptable. But we all know that the mental health support is inadequate, and the system needs and urgent overhaul. Do you have a hospital close by that you can take him to? I am glad that I was able to relive some of your stress ❤️
Thank you so much for your reply. I am so happy that my act of kindness has also passed on the feel-good vibe to you. I find that it is the people that have been through a lot are usually the ones that go out of their way to make other people feel good, because they know exactly what it feels like, when things are not good. Or they are not treated nicely and with respect.
Starting to collect coins has been a god send for me. I have interacted with so many beautiful people, and their generosity with their time and support is so amazing. It has helped restore my belief that there are still good people in this world. For a few years there, I was convinced that there wasn't.
And you are totally right about connection. I feel so much better when I connect with these people. But unfortunately, when I have a bout of depression, I shut everyone and everything out. I am hoping that when my next wave hits, that I can come on here and talk about the depression. It might get me out of it a bit quicker.
I actually find the ones on Facebook are better, and some of them are on both anyway. Every coin group that I have joined, they are all very helpful. The only thing that they don't want people asking for a valuation of a coin they have. As the best way to find out what a particular is worth is to look up on eBay and see what prices a coin in similar condition has sold for.
I also have the King Charles 2024 set, but I have the 2023 Last Elizabeth II $2 coin & the First 2024 Charles III $2 coin. I did start searching to get prices on the one that you wanted, but obviously was sidetracked by other coins. Lol
I was a legal bookkeeper, so I love spreadsheets. Whenever I see a coin that I would like to purchase I create a tab with 86 different websites that I have found who sell coins. I would place the selling and postage cost into the spreadsheet to see who has the best price. But I also search on eBay and Gumtree as well. On a couple of occasions, I have been able to buy a coin cheaper on Ebay for the same company that has their own coin website. I thought it would be the other way around, as they have to pay fees on eBay.
I don't have any knowledge when it comes to bank notes, so I don't even know who Edith Cowan is. Lol
The following coin, I saw on one of emails that I receive from a coin company that I subscribed to, and I fell in love with it. I love roses and my favorite colour is burgundy followed by red. It was as if the coin was calling out to me to buy it. It is a 2021 €10 The Language of Flowers Rose Coloured 1/2oz Silver Coin.
I truly hope that you brother is going to be ok and get the help and support that he needs. And don't forget to take care of yourself too.

Hi @Mustang67 and thank you for your reply. So much to cover and I don’t have much time as I’m heading off to a retreat but I just had a look at the flower coins - couldn’t resist as my fav flower is rose and I love tracing the history of them too. I have attached a screen snap of a full enamel flower coin that is probably the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. What a gorgeous collection!
I ended up on the phon for 1hr and 49 mins last night to be told to call back in the morn. They will send a msg to acute care team hang on they called

Hey @Harmonium I can't believe they told you to call back in the morning. That is disgusting.
What sort of retreat are you going to? I hope you have a wonderful time and get what you need out of it.
I can't see a picture of the flower coin. Perhaps you can send it to me upon your return.

Okay, off the phone now. Yes it’s been a journey and will continue by the sound of it. I just try to support where I can and when I have new concerns for his welfare. It’s a merry-go-round unfortunately. But I’m going to a retreat for 24hrs to switch off. That was cool what you said you are doing with the spreadsheets, you must have an analytical approach to life and are meticulous like me : )

When I am not in my depression cycle, I am very analytical and meticulous.
That coin is beautiful. I love the box it come in. I saved some nice pics of the coin for you to download if you are interested.
