thank you, @RiverSeal 🙂

Re: Wait what did I come into this thread for again? Oh yeah, ADHD!

that's interesting @Shaz51

there's a lot of overlap between people who are double-jointed or have hypermobile joint syndrome and people who are neurodivergent, particularly ADHD & autism.

bendy mind, bendy body 😆

@greenspace  My Life in a Timeline of Statements

“I’ve never heard of ADHD. If only I knew this 20 years ago.”

”HRT! Why didn’t I start taking this 10 years ago?”

”Narcissistic Personality Disorder! I wish I had read about this 14 years ago.”

”Narcissist Abuse Syndrome! Now I know.”

@Glisten If only we'd known, hey

Re: Wait what did I come into this thread for again? Oh yeah, ADHD!

Hey everyone! @greenspace @Glisten @Shaz51 @Neuro_Spicy

So just on the bendy mind bendy body bit (love this phrasing btw), there's a condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS) which has a high rate of comorbidity with neurodiversity! (Source here). It affects the body's connective tissues.

A lot of my neurospicy friends also have elements of EDS, as do I - though I've never been formally diagnosed, and my symptoms are pretty mild. But the hypermobility, soft/stretchy skin, and being easily bruised all point in that direction so it could be worth getting checked out for anyone who experiences similar. Apparently stretching is super helpful, like yoga and stuff, especially as we get older and there's less collagen produced by the body.

Also re: menstruation, I think it can be helpful to talk to your doc about upping your meds dosage around that time, that's what mine recommended. I think it might depend on what meds you take though so best to speak to doc/pdoc beforehand. I know I get extra frizzle frazzled around that time and it's so easy for all my silly adulting tasks to get the better of me. Especially when I'm having cravings for extra food, but keep forgetting/not having enough dopamine to do the dishes 😅

Hope everyone is having a spiffy Monday 😊
