Re: Ashby🙂

Hello @Ashby

Welcome to the forums😊

I will likely be seeking DV counselling. I am interested in your experience, only if you feel comfortable to share.

So far, I been involved with services & been given information - not ongoing intensive counselling.

I could relate when you wrote

hard realising how bad it was as due to survival mode I minimized it.

i didn't realise the 'survival mode' until I read your comment. Yes, that describes it perfectly.

It's lots of information to take in isn't it? Easier to not look.

How are you going?

Re: Ashby🙂

Hi Maddison

Happy to keep talking, never used a forum before so just getting used to it.

My therapist helped me understand I was in survival mode Fight or Flight the whole time I lived with him, it was why I could not see how bad it was, my mind was protecting me by only dealing with what I needed to get through it.

Unfortunately when in survival your primative brain is in charge so you do not have the ability to  focus on the reality of the situation.

Had lots of time and therapy to get to this point.

Re: Ashby🙂

Thankyou for replying @Ashby Yes, I can connect with everything you wrote.

Thankyou for offering to continue talking with me. The last thing I want to do is re-traumatise you in any way. I am totally out of my depth here.

I'm thinking I might start a new thread, & tag you. Would that be ok? I don't think we should discuss on the Welcome page🙂

Maybe other members could benefit, or provide support?

Please let me know if you feel comfortable. I'm not sure what the title would be - I don't want to scare members. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

No rush in replying😊

Thankyou again.

Happy New Year 😊🎆 ! Wishing you strength & success.

Well done joining the forums 👍 I hope you find the nurturing you need here.

(If I can think of a good title - I will tag you - zero pressure 💜)

Re: Ashby🙂

Please tag me, have no idea what to call thread. Survival mode? Maybe but do not really care, just happy to connect with another survivor.

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

hello!

i'm ultimateegghead, but please just call me egg 🙂 i'm proudly autistic and i've lived with a lot of complex mental illness for the majority of my childhood and adolescence and am now at the ripe age of 20 and dealing with trying to navigate adulthood and university as well as chronic mental illness and physical health issues.

things get really hard and overwhelming at times (honestly most of the time) and sometimes i feel really isolated, so i figured i'd join this forum to seek support as well as spread love ❤️

Re: Welcome! Introduce yourself here 🙂

Hi there, I've just joined and looking through all the great content and people opening themselves up in the Forum's. I've suffered with depression and anxiety for many years now. And I had meltdown at whilst working last week but my manager was very supportive, but I feel embarrassed and ashamed. I was a crying mess and feeling out of control. I'm going to get a mental health plan and medication from my GP tomorrow. Last year my eldest had a horrific accident and not meant to live but she has. My mum is very sick at 85 and in and out of hospital. I started a new job over a year ago. I'm finding I have a fear of failure and struggling in the job. I'm 55 and divorced anxious and finding it's a worrying time of my life. I do have a gorgeous cat that keeps me company. I'm finding I'm constantly in fear or worrying and I keep mainly to myself. I'm looking forward to reading tips and supporting others on our journeys.
