Re: Morning Check-In

@avant-garde

In regard to what @Jynx said about getting activated (cert IV preferred language for triggered). They really harp on about self-care and looking after yourself. They also provide peer supervision once a month where you can bring topics of things that are challenging you. Another option at Tafe is 3 free over the phone counselling sessions if you need them and they don't need to be about Tafe. You can use them for anything that comes up in your life. For myself, I have talked to my psychologist a lot this year about Tafe and my struggles. So much so that when I get my certificate I am going to give my psychologist a copy because she has earnt it too.

@Oaktree

Is it hard to find work with the qualification?

Re: Morning Check-In

@avant-garde

I couldn’t say but there are more peer work opportunities opening up all the time. It’s becoming more recognised as a profession

Re: Morning Check-In

Yeah @Oaktree @avant-garde , I think this is the time for an influx of peer workers and it may slow down later once the positions are filled.

The Cert 4 in Peer Work is quite a new recognised course, and hence the scholarships too.

I completed the course. It was so so. I can't say I got too much out of it, but it could be because I have a background in related areas. I"m still glad I did the course though.

Re: Morning Check-In

@tyme

Finding this conversation difficult now as I'm beginning to feel a bit pressured to make a decision and just do the course even though I'm not ready

Re: Morning Check-In

Hearing you @avant-garde . Of course there's no need to do it, especially if you are not ready... and maybe it's not something you every want or will be ready for. It's totally your call.
