Hi @Smc
That's a good question - I have never knowingly used the cloud but that doesn't mean my data hasn't found it's way there somehow
But what can we do about that? I really don't know - perhaps I will be guilty of saving old computers too
But then - one way to deal with old info might be is to change our details when we ditch a computer - other people might have better ideas. Once I used to burn old papers and there are always old papers
Perhaps one way of dealing with computer date is to have the hard drive removed professionally - or some guy will know surely
But this is tricky yes - and I don't know anything about the cloud -
aw what - something else? - but thanks for that question - it's really important

@Owlunar, we avoid "the cloud", but I'm aware that things like my email account and facebook are automatically off-site data storage. So I'm somewhat cautious about what I do via email, and extremely cautious about facebook. I've got my security settings at almost zero, but don't put up personal info in my profile (except that I'm married... to try to deter online daters :P). If anyone wants to get to know me online, they have to interact with me.
People forget that no system is so secure that it's un-hackable. Is worthwhile being sensibly careful online.

we avoid "the cloud", @Owlunar, @Former-Member, @Smc, @Appleblossom, @Former-Member
and the old computer still has data on it but unable to get it or delete it , so i think it will stay in the cupboard
but the others can go one day

That is the situation we are in. Re old computers. My son does not want to think about it. I would prefer to take hard drive out and was told take a hammer to it. I am weary now but one day maybe.

This is the local book exchange guy taking his trailer load, away, even gave me a bit of money for it.
Very down today. And unwell. SI isn't bad, surprisingly, but I am having trouble seeing a future. I've had palpitations since Bro2 's hurtful letter threatening text last night, I wish he'd be gone. Went for a d I've to get out of the house, had another look at the unit - but decisions are hard atm. So tired. Missing friends here.

Hang in there @Former-Member. We're thinking of you... praying for you.
I get lonely when I'm up at my parents' place too. I try to give myself out-of-the-house breaks regularly to keep myself functional. Which is actually why I do the paradoxical thing of going browsing at the nearby op shop, when I'm trying to declutter.
